I took a step and you stepped sideways. Then I came straight to where you were standing and I kissed you very soft and slow.

“Is it really you?”

“It’s me,” you said, “it’s me.”

“It is you.”

I kissed you again. Your eyes were wide and shining. The white was warm, and for a moment it was breaking all around.

“Oh, we’re still the same,” you said. “Aren’t we still the same?”

“You don’t know?”

“No, I know, I know.”

You were laughing very still.

“What were we thinking?”

“We’re always the same.”

“Oh, it’s crazy,” you said. “I know.”
